Graham Shootout
This weekend we took a pre-season trip to Saskatchewan to compete in the Graham Shootout hosted by the University of Saskatchewan.
A homecoming for one of our staff members made it nice getting around the city and local knowledge on some good places to eat.
The trip featured a lot of new faces for the Axemen getting a chance to play significant minutes. Finishing the weekend with a solid win against a good Windsor team to end with a record of 1-2 allowed for us to identify some areas that need some improvement.
We got a chance to play against some of the best the country has to offer in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Windsor. Without Owen Klassen (National Team) and Anthony Sears (injury) the stage was set for Jon Tull, Anthony Ashe and Tyler Scott all first year players for the us to step in to big roles and carry the team.
The weekend had many moments of frustration for players an coaches but the guys were able to bounce back and get a solid team effort on Saturday to defeat the Windsor Lancers. This was a great opportunity for our guys to get quality minutes against really good teams and some great players. We have identified areas that need work and we will get chance to work through them this week before we head to Brock this weekend for another trio of games.
