After trailing for the first 36 minutes of the game, Nova Scotia pulled out a come from behind win against Alberta in the semi finals 84-77.
Earning a birth into the finals tonight was not an easy task. Alberta came out of the gates red hot and jumped to a early 10-2 lead. Our offense was stagnant, which lead to bad shots and easy run outs for Alberta. A young man by the name of Taurus Smith checked into the game and provide a huge boost off the bench, scoring 11 first half points and ending with a team high 21.
Heading into half time we were down 9 but our pressure defense was beginning to take its toll. We were able to hang around all game long and with just under 4 minutes to go we took the lead and never looked back. We were able to slow down the transition game of Alberta and execute good offense in the half court and eventually make a run late to seal the victory.
The Humber College gymnasium was rocking and fans were treated to as good a game as there was in the tournament.
Jayden Nordin was solid once again for us, playing great defense against one of the top guards in the tournament in Jordan Whyte and scoring 17 points. Travis Adams continued his trend posting another double-double 10 points and 13 rebounds.
It was a collective effort and included that of the loud and proud Scotian fan base in the crowd.
Tomorrows National final will be against the host team Ontario. They have been very impressive thus fa,r holding teams well below their scoring average. The boys are excited for the challenge and focused in getting it done. Tip off is at 8:15pm Saturday night.
