Nova Scotia 80 Quebec 75

Great day in the gym today and a great day to be from Nova Scotia. The boys battled hard and beat the number 1 ranked Quebec team.

Lead by a game high 23 points from AJ Simmonds and a double double (12 points, 14 rebounds) by Travis Adams. Leading the majority of the game, Nova Scotia pulled out a 80-75 win. Largest lead of the game was 13 but was cut to 1 twice in the second half but big shots by AJ Simmonds and Davonte Provo stretch the lead back out. David Benoit was a major X factor coming off the bench and providing a scoring presence (10 for the game) and rebounding effectively.

Pressure defense was the story once again, pointed by Adams wore on Quebec created a lot of points in transition. It was a tremendous team effort which resulted in a very solid win, on a big stage.

Quebec made a run late in the game when they stymied the Scotia break and half court offense with a 1-2-2 half court trap and zone defense. Each time Quebec knocked on the door, Scotia answered the with huge shots, big defensive stops and hustle plays. The game was settle with a couple of big offensive rebounds down the stretch and free throws to end it.

The focus now turns to the quarterfinals as we face off against Newfoundland at 8:15pm Thursday night.
