Summerfest - Day 1 Recap

Day 1 of the Summerfest Tournament in Saint John, NB is in the books. Nova Scotia had 5 teams in action and went 3-2 to start the tournament.

The 15u Development boys team won handily in there game versus the Mill Rats Elite team out of Saint John, they take on the Western Valley Attack today at 10:15am..

In the Women's Open Division the 17u girls came out strong in the first quarter against the 17u girls from New Brunswick and held onto that lead throughout the game to pull through with a 68-52 win. Head coach Scott Munro has the girls playing well as they ramp up for the trip to Nationals in Edmonton next week. They round out their pool play today as they take on our 18u girls at 1:45pm today as well as a the 17u girls from PEI, a team they will face in round robin play at Nationals.

The 18u girls had a rematch of the 17u girls from PEI from last weekend and narrowly lost by 4. As previously mentioned they will play the 17u NS girls today at 1:45pm.

The Women's Competitive division saw the 16u girls take on the 16u girls from NB and fell short with a score 62-58 in favour of NB. The NS girls are battling injuries but are playing well and rallying together despite the adversity, I would expect a strong showing from them today as they take on the Eastside Wolves at 3:15pm.

The Men's Open division featuring the 18u boys had an offensive explosion on Friday night scoring 125 points leading them to a victory in their opener against the Slam City Spurs.  The 18u boys take on a host of former CIS and ex-Mill Rats today at 12pm.
