The 15u girls fell short to BC, losing by a score of 65-55. The girls jumped out to an early 19-11 first quarter lead. The second quarter continued to be an up and down pace which saw BC up 35-34 at halftime. The girls regained the lead at the end of the 3rd quarter 48-45 but BC was able to mount a late charge to go ahead late and ultimately win the game. The 15u girls will compete to finish 5th in the tournament when they take on Newfoundland tomorrow at 3:45pm.
The 17u girls lost a nail bitter today in their quarterfinal against Alberta, final score 55-52. Alberta got out to an early lead and held a 9 point edge going into half time. Nova Scotia narrowed the gap to a single possession game after 3 quarters of play and the game remained within a couple of possessions right up until the end. Nova Scotia had the ball with under 30 seconds left but was unable to make a basket to go ahead and Alberta made 2 foul shots to seal it. They girls will also play Newfoundland tomorrow at 3:45pm as they now have their sights on finishing 5th.
The 15u boys continue to impress with a convincing 95-71 win over Alberta. The boys came out strong and continued that pace for the duration of the game. They will now have a day off tomorrow and prepare for their semi final game on Tuesday July 29th at 6:00pm vs. the winner of Ontario(1) and Saskatchewan(8).
The 17u boys defeated Quebec in their quarter final matchup in an intense and up tempo game. Quebec jumped out in front early but Nova Scotia was able to pull back and head into halftime with a 44-42 lead. Quebec came out strong to start the second half and entered the 4th quarter with a two point edge. Nova Scotia rallied together and came away with a 87-84 win. They will play the winner of Manitoba(1) and Saskatchewan(9) on Tuesday July 29th at 8:15pm.
The 16u boys came away with another win today against Alberta in the western championship with a final score of 66-60. They play Saskatchewan tomorrow at 1:30pm.
