We have made it through arrival day! Last minute preparations took place in the morning before the campers began arriving Friday afternoon at 2:30pm. The final camper was here by 5:30pm accounting for all 51 campers! We did have a couple of campers who were unable to make it due to unforeseen circumstances, but the show must go on.
A lot of nervous teenagers checked in today, however they were very polite and respectful of the staff. Most of the afternoon was spend settling into the dorms and campus tours along with a few free time activities.
After dinner we went over to the Clark Commons building and had our intro session led by Camp directors Jane and Julian. Our lead speaker Mr. Phil was also involved and the tone was set and the framing of the program was completed. The rest of the evening was lead by the staff with icebreaker and mixer activities to let the campers come out of their shell. Participation, anticipation and energy was very high and all these young potential leaders are showing great promise for what has always been a tremendous week.
Big time shout out to the 7 counselors and 2 junior counselors who have been amazing with the planning and preparations over the past 2 days. Today they brought a lot of energy and helped make the kids feel right at home!
Tomorrow will be our first full day, which kicks of with Mr. Phil in the morning followed by Laser Tag in the afternoon and our Anti-bullying night to wrap things up. (We might try and mix in a slip and slide somewhere!)
Catapult!
