Top 3 Teams at Bluenose

Nova Scotia U15 Girls – I had a chance to watch them play the U16 girls on Sunday and I was very impressed with this team. Led by Daneesha Provo who is an absolute stud. She is long, can defend and make shots, she is certainly the straw that stirs their drink. The supporting cast is very strong led by their Captain Tyleigha Nelson who is a great athlete and poised presence on the floor. June Beals, Graysen Parker are two others who compliment their style very well. They also have some good size with Hannah Brown patrolling the paint for them. They are so dominant right now, their biggest challenge is to stay sharp and not get complacent before they head to Nationals.

Nova Scotia U15 Boys – these boys took care of business this weekend with a 73-72 win over a strong U16 boys team. Coach Jones has this team playing together and looking very good at this point in the season. Levi Smith is a dynamic player who is fun to watch. This balanced attack comes from a variety of sources including Nick Deplama, Dekayo Downey and Liam Johnston. These guys are going to be fun to watch at Nationals and very interesting once Canada Games rolls around again.

Nova Scotia U17 Boys – these young men rolled through the Bluenose Classic and capped it off with a 100-77 win over Bathurst U18 team which featured 4 CIS bound players. Led by AJ Simmonds who had a solid weekend and is having phenomenal summer. The closest game they were a part of was versus NB U17 where Kyle Arsenault hit a half court buzzer beater to cut the lead to 6. This team plays high tempo and causes a ton of pressure in the backcourt. Athletic Forward and under ager Travis Adams plays the point of the pressure and is extremely disruptive to other teams. Jayden Nordin had a great weekend, also an under age player who starts and is a bright young talent.
