Program planning thoughts:
  • Clearly define your success 
  • Components
    • Foundational
      • Culture, purpose, wellness, leadership, learning, connection
    • Performance
      • Consistency, tactics, communication, skill, compete
    • Pressure
      • Cohesion, confidence, resilience, composure. 
  • Accountability
    • Establish clear standards and empower all staff and players 
    • establish a culture of accountability with "drills" in practice 
    • Make sure staff hold each accountable 
  • Language continuity 
    • make sure everyone is using same language, on and off the court
  • Session structure
    • Periodization 
    • balance freedom and cohesion with tasks and objectives
    • Control your environment (intensity) 
What factors into your training sessions? 
  • There are a lot of things that factor in and coaches have to consider. Physical load, team culture & identity. How to balance our team strengths vs time on our weaknesses. the individual development along with the team development. It is important to ask these questions. 
  • You have to think about what you want as priorities for your practices and let these guide you. Below are things that can be consider and are examples of what priorities could be.
    • Maximizing time
    • Having fun!
    • Flow and pace
    • Daily and/or weekly objectivs
