Day 1 of games have gotten underway with 15U action beginning at 9am. Nova Scotia took care of business against PEI winning their first game of the day.
Day has been a slow pace for our boys, breakfast at 8:30am and then headed over to shoot around at local high school John Power/St. Joseph's from 11:00am-12:00pm. Arrived back in time for lunch and going to support the NS 15's this afternoon (3:45pm) as they play NB in their second game of the day.
Shoot around was again, very loose and relaxed with lots of reps shooting the basketball and reviewing some last minute details. We tried to simulate much of what is going to happen for tomorrow when we tip off against the Territories at 11:15am. Getting our boys up early and into to the gym similar to our game time tomorrow. There is lots of downtime at this event, so it is important that we fill the time appropriately and keep the guys focused on the goal.
In regards to the games that have already started. the feel of the national tournament has certainly been established. Sask and Newfoundland went down to the wire with Sask eventually taking it in overtime in the morning session. Was able to catch a little bit of Quebec and BC 15U play, dominated mostly by BC in a chaotic opening round game.
Final round of games start at 3:45pm and then all teams will be shuttled over to an off-site location for the opening ceremonies/banquet.
